Welcome to Langley Residential
Living a valued, productive and independent life is the goal of all people. Langley Residential Support Services (LRSS) offers a variety of supportive services to individuals with intellectual disabilities living in Fairfax County, Virginia.
Our mission is to provide quality comprehensive residential and community support services that enable people to live an active and rich life and to develop the self confidence that comes with being independent.
The idea of Langley was started nearly two decades ago after members of McLean’s Trinity United Methodist Church sponsored a social evening for young adults in the area who were mentally retarded. The evening was a success, and several church members took note of the need in the area for both residential facilities and professional counseling and services which could serve these young adults. Members of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, and Immanuel Presbyterian Church began the Langley Nonprofit Housing Development Corporation in August, 1983.
Today Langley maintains two group homes, two supported residential homes and provides counseling and support services collectively to more than 60 people who live independently. Langley has always tried to provide service for each person in the least restrictive environment.
LRSS makes a real and lasting impact in our client’s lives. Through our Residential and Community Support programs we help our consumers:
Live more independently
Develop an integrated presence in our community
Improve their self esteem
Support their physical and emotional needs
Develop their own individual lifestyle
Langley Voices:
"She’s become independent in a lot of ways...the counselors are close friends with her and she wants to make them proud.."
