The People We Serve

Langley Residential currently works with 44 adults with developmental disabilities through our residential and community support (drop-in services) programs. We offer two types of residential programs—intensive and supportive. Currently, 21 individuals live in our homes. There are 23 people in our drop-in community services program. More than half of the people in our care are ages 55 and older. Of the community we served, 55 percent are women, and 20 percent are minorities or have multi-ethnic backgrounds.

The individuals we serve are unique. All have been diagnosed with a developmental disability; however, the level or impact of the disability is different for each person. Everyone faces their own challenges. This means that some people are able to live on their own with minimal support, while others need a more supervised environment. Skill levels vary and sometimes regress with age. Nevertheless, all of them are able to achieve more than they thought they could--and this is where our work begins.
